We all learned very early in life that choices have consequences. When we put our little hands on that hot stove after our Mothers looked down at us and firmly told us “Don’t touch, HOT!” it was one of our first lessons on our choices having consequences. We touched the stove and guess what? We got burned!
Unfortunately for a lot of us, that lesson was not enough to get us to listen, and to make decisions based on someone else’s experience. We don’t believe something until we experience it for ourselves. So we go through life getting burned. But getting burned can also be a learning experience and a life lesson for most of us. Getting burned, a lot of times, can contribute to making us who we are and can eventually bring us to good things in life. We all hope and pray that that is the case when we make mistakes.
Over the years, and through many mistakes in my life, I’ve strived to find the answer to one particular question for most of my adult life. What does it take to have Peace of mind, balance of life and true happiness?
Throughout my life there have been certain points in my life when I thought I knew the answer to that question. Even when I heard my Mom’s voice in my ear saying “No Karen, that’s not the way to go. Do it this way. I’ve been there and I know what I’m talking about.” She tried very hard to keep me from getting burned, and every now and again I wish that had listened to some of the advice she tried to give me. But I also know that I’m living the life God has for me and my life experiences have played a direct role in making the life I have now, which I am so grateful for.
